This manual endeavors to explain the procedures and familiarize the reader with the tools required to create their own single player or multi player game maps for Call of Duty 2. It's main objective is to provide a clear and concise explanation of the steps involved without leaving any guess work to the reader. Any suggestions, criticism, complaints or requests can be emailed to jbarradale@gmail.com. Thank you.




This manual is free to use by anyone of the Internet and Gaming Community and has no restrictions on it whatsoever, as I believe the Internet to be a place where people can locate information at no cost to them. Conventions used in this manual.


Procedures or steps will be shown as follows:


STEP ONE: Start The Editor. {Double Left Click} on your brand new icon for the Radiant Editor, if it is not already running.


The step will be numbered, bold, light blue, followed by an optional summary of what we are doing in bold black. The menu choices, mouse clicks, or buttons to be pressed will be shown. The way they are shown is as follows:


Step Numbers: STEP ONE
Mouse Clicks: {Left Click}, {Right Click}, {Left Click Hold}, {Double Left Click} ...
Keyboard Keys: <A>, <1>, <Backspace>, <Enter>, <Tab>, <PageUp>, <Home>, <End>, <Delete> ...
Menu Choices: [File]->[Save As...], [Selection]->[CSG]->[Hollow], ....
Each of the words or phrase enclosed in brackets are a {Left Click} on a menu item. The first item is the word along the top of the screen, the main menu item. It is followed by the {Left Click} on each of the sub-menus that appear with an arrow connecting them.
Buttons: (Save), (OK), (Rotate X), (Hollow), ....


There are many ways of doing things, if there is another way I have found, then this will be shown by the phrase Alternate Method in bold and italic type face.







Appendix A - Updates and Changes Made:


Sunday, 07 January 2007 - started to add content to the manual. Began with the editor basics, installing and setting it up. The options for the editor and how it operates, looks and feels. Figures with captions added for additional clarity.


Wednesday, 10 January 2007 - Added Appendix B, list of commands and their keyboard shortcuts. Added Appendix C with command list, sorted by keystrokes for those who wish to know what a keystroke they pressed might have done.


Thursday, 11 January 2007 - Added more content to Section I, tool bar buttons and more explanation of the main screen. Added the FORTY steps to build a simple room. A BIG difference between the six to eight that are given in some tutorials.


Friday, 12 January - posted Internet version update into new file name, radiant.html, easier to type in.


Saturday, 13 January 2007 - Added content to new section II, fundamental commands. Revised Appendix B to include a three column table to also show the menu or alternate commands of each of these in this list.


Sunday, 14 January 2007 - Continuing to add content to section II, revising section I.


Monday, 15 January 2007 - Adding new Project of outdoor map.


Tuesday, 16 January 2007 - Major revision necessary to remove the idea of using the Hollow button at all.


Friday, 19 January 2007 - More experiments completed. Added a fireplace to house, adding this to section on putting objects into map as another mini-project / example. Also added an insert to the fundamental commands to explain the difference between moving a selected object and resizing a selected object. Actually as I glance at the clock, it is really Saturday. Oh well. Who needs sleep?

Monday, 29 January 2007 - Separated Chapter 1, 2, 3 and appendix into smaller files, getting too big. Begin to add Chapter 3, components of the Call of Duty 2 game and editor. Began to add the section, “Adding a bunker to the map.”

Saturday, 03 February 2007 - Finished bunker section. Began to create the web page for this section. Named the sections differently, files too large for word processor. File names are radiant_ch2a.html, radiant_ch2b.html and radiant_ch2c.html as are the word perfect files name: My Radiant Editor Manual Chapter 2A.wpd and so on.

Sunday, 04 February 2007 - Posted bunker section on web page.

Monday, 05 February 2007 - Started new section radiant_ch2c.html with adding a house to map and then later will do adding an arch hallway.

Tuesday, 06 February 2007 - Progressing on House. Made a text version of Table of Contents in “My Radiant Editor Manual TOC.wpd”

Friday 09 February 2007 - Posted Additions From Section On Adding a House.

Saturday, 10 February 2007 - Began major error changes. Dimensions in height of ceiling wrong. Running old version of map, player not able to enter doorways without crouching. Figures mis-numbered. Added two figures (more renumbering) to show proper methods, in roof section, additional cuts needed. Remaking house from scratch to make better figures, to replace the ones showing the old dimensions. Sunday, 11 February 2007 - Working on error changes. Updated verion to 1.03 02/11/2007 major revisions
